Pain | A Woman Who

Cake, “Short Skirt, Long Jacket”

I want a girl
With a mind like a diamond
I want a girl
Who knows what’s best

I want a girl
With shoes that cut
And eyes that burn
Like cigarettes

I want a girl
With the right allocations
Who’s fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack

She’s playing with her jewelry
She’s putting up her hair
She’s touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnng jacket……

I want a girl
Who gets up early
I want a girl
Who stays up late

I want a girl
With uninterupted prosperity
Who uses a machete
To cut through red tape

With fingernails
That shine like justice
And a voice that is dark
Like tinted glass

She is fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She’s touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a long…. long jacket

I want a girl
With a smooth liquidation
I want a girl
With good dividends

And at the city bank
We will meet accidentally
We’ll start to talk
When she borrows my pen

She wants a car
With a cupholder arm rest
She wants a car
That will get her there

She’s changing her name
From Kitty to Karen
She’s trading her MG
For a white Chrysler LeBaron

I want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket

Pain is better than nothing? I rarely think this way and none of the lyrics speak to me except the line “I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all.” And even then. I’m not sure it’s accurate. But sometimes. If it’s a decision. If forced, never.

Pain, without love
Pain, I can’t get enough
Pain, I like it rough
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all

You’re sick of feeling numb
You’re not the only one
I’ll take you by the hand
And I’ll show you a world that you can understand

This life is filled with hurt
When happiness doesn’t work
Trust me and take my hand
When the lights go out you will understand

Pain, without love
Pain, I can’t get enough
Pain, I like it rough
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all

Pain, without love
Pain, I can’t get enough
Pain, I like it rough
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all

Anger and agony
Are better than misery
Trust me, I’ve got a plan
When the lights go off, you will understand

Pain, without love
Pain, I can’t get enough
Pain, I like it rough
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all

Pain, without love
Pain, I can’t get enough
Pain, I like it rough
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing, rather feel pain

I know, I know that you’re wounded
You know, you know that I’m here to save you
You know, you know I’m always here for you
I know, I know that you’ll thank me later

Pain, without love
Pain, can’t get enough
Pain, I like it rough
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all

Pain, without love
Pain, I can’t get enough
Pain, I like it rough
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all

Pain, without love

Pain, I can’t get enough
Pain, I like it rough
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all
Rather feel pain than nothing at all
Rather feel pain
