When it comes to the tech side of setting up Websites I’m one of those people who sometimes knows just enough to get into trouble. I can always work it out when I have time, but currently do not have that time to dig in and enjoy finding the solution.
And I’ve got two Web sites jumping now. One will get more social media interaction and attention than this one.
Other things going, so much.
1. Daddyism – I’m discovering all the things needed to attempt to be a good parent; one who is always attentive without giving the boys everything they think they need. Unbidden kisses and hugs in return more than make up for the strange feelings of only being able to push a point so far without trying to rely on logic. THIS does equal THIS in my brain or any non-politically crazy mentally intrenched adult, but the 4-year-old brain doesn’t work that way. Last weekend. Played catch – yup, I did – with a new glove I bought just for the occasion. A lot of fun, I kept it fun, not making it strict “we need to do” this.. I would say a situation of GOT IT, but i don’t even know enough and still getting in trouble. ;-)
2. Music. Envelopment. Last two albums bought were Disturbed’s “Asylum” and Heart’s “Red Velvet Car. both for review purposes though I also have songs coming out of my nose of review copies from everyone. All part of SoundLust.
Going going. Got It?

Two ideas come come to mind viewing these photos. One, inevitably, is does the blog post author use these photos – and perhaps quotes – with permission? Two is, some photos are made amazing amazing by the accident of just being in an iconic place at at an iconic time. Ross Halfin and Linda McCartney photos both have that whiff about them. These Hopper photos have that air about them, though they are undoubtedly rocking photos. I really iike Hopper’s ethos of full-frame shots and the black and white natural lighting images are an important study in contrast.

I drove from Tucson last night, cruising for two hours listening to .. well, no bum notes. It hit the best of several bands, and coming home from a very special day with Carrie (yup, midweek; today is when she flew in from Montana (via drive to Spokane and layover in Denver) it just truly fired – on all cylinders .

In 2007 SXSW released an official torrent of songs showcasing the bands that had showed up. I’m unclear whether this is the same official list (though 2009 does have the same 737 number of artists so that’s a good sign), though the page here presents itself that way. archives going back to 2005.
One of many many many photos I took at the Phoenix Blues Society’s Blues Blast Feb. 27 (and the Rhythm Room the night before). The rest are coming along.
This here is Big James of Big James & The Chicago Playboys on stage on the trombone. Photo is uncropped.

I took video with a Blackberry Storm, kneeling down in front of the stage with a mosh pit starting to form behind me for Scott Biram, who kicked off his tour last night at the Rhythm Room in Phoenix. The guy was just amazingly talented. The Dirt Daubers (also) are touring with them and they completely smoked the place, as well. And when Colonel JD Wilkes isn’t making faces and hitting the hiiiigh notes, (his wife) Jessica can sing her ass off something beautiful. The band who led off were great, as well, but I’m going to screw up their name so I’m not even going to try. It took about 40 minutes to send this via uberTwitter, but it didn’t crash out. It worked.
(Probably wait for the whole thing to load then press play would be best.) Pics to come, as well … at Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, an online gallery near you
Guess you could take love paranoia a number of ways. they’re not two words I put together often. Paranoia is all about worrying what might come to attack you, harass you, beat you, kill you.
Wait a minute …
Unless you’re really down on the idea of love and you don’t WANT to be loved, it can’t do those things.
Paranoia is about being afraid. Love is about facing down fears with renewed strength.
And I wouldn’t know either way because the album is in Japanese. But she has a good cold sincerity to her voice.
Mix in a band, The Nadas, I keep on forgetting about who also happen to use the Internet well for livestreaming sessions. Which I’ve never watched. Can I take a few moments to say a band’s Web presence is something I never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever oh and ever think about. I find music I listen to it. Sure the occasional video, but just no. More of an observation of medium and how it really doesn’t have to all coagulate into one big mess all the time.
Multimedia is often just unnecessary sensory overload – a necessity to appeal to as many people as possible, who all respond better to the sound or the look or the visual aesthetics. Necessary for that but for music the sound, the straight skill and joyfulness of the sound, is most important.
Ok, really to be honest I didn’t go to sleep. I can do that often, don’t do it often.
But about the time 4 a.m. rolled around I started playing music that started out slow, reflective, wonderful, beautiful to know where I’m playing Ke$ha’s Blah Blah Blah and rocking out and rawkus and wonderful and (ok slightly less) beautiful but rocking smokey.
And I’m just about to consider buying Susan Boyle (yup) and Pearl Jam and OK Go’s new ones.
Music … Without dissonance it lets my thoughts dance and hookup; those thoughts that develop and are born in the quieter times.
“You’re looking like a tool, not a baller. you’re acting like a chick. Why bother? I can find someone way hotter with a bigger .. weeeell.” Kiss N’ Tell, Ke$ha
Last week I went crazy buying music. Overdue to find new music. Bought a few bands I’ve never heard of to keep the discovery edge on. I also bought locally at Stinkweeds, which as well as just being in the middle of so much used CDs and vinyl and new CDs just keeps the tax local.
Also bought with a local Arizona / Phoenix flavor.

My goal along the way changed from planning to burn songs on blank CDs to planning to burn them all to help fill up a Nano. … But 1 I started to do it late and then some CDs would not import easily or quickly. This is likely due to an overworked CD player in my iBook more than anything else.
I also have borrowed a 1 TB harddrive and so am keeping all music on there.
So many songs, so much music. I ended up with about 400 songs on the Nano from songs I already had. I was only able to burn the White Rabbits, Love Me Nots and Surfside IV (given to me by band member’s wife after show)
